The Grey was designed by Paul Brown & Associates, a leading Auckland-based architectural firm with a clear vision: to deliver the best possible outcomes in multi-unit residential. With The Grey, they have delivered a refined design that responds to the edginess and character of Grey Lynn without losing sight of the client’s brief for understated luxury.
The exterior features a monochromatic palette of raw, urban materials including charcoal brick, off-the-form concrete and black metal across a stepping façade. It is the texture, scale and careful composition of these elements that gives interest and sophistication to this urban design.
The extensive use of lush greenery in planters plays off the softness and colour of nature with the grey, linear forms of the building. The effect is a confident building that looks at home on a corner site flanked by expensive character homes on one side and gritty, commercial buildings on the other.
